DoD Announces Air Force Casualty
Tech. Sgt. Larry D. Bunn, 43, of Bossier City, La., died March 7 as a result of a non-combat incident at an undisclosed base in Southwest Asia. He was assigned to the 307th Maintenance Squadron, Barksdale Air Force Base, La.
Tammy Bunn told the
Shreveport Times:
“When you drive up and you see the men in blue on your porch, my first response to them was are you sure you have the right house?"
Bunn was born in Texas, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1987 and began with the 2nd Maintenance Munitions Squadron, he moved into the 917 Reserve Wing in 1990, and recently transitioned into the Aerospace Group Equipment Technician.
Tammi Bunn told the paper he was due home this month, they would have been together for their thirteenth anniversary in May. She added, he was in perfect health.
“Larry wouldn’t die of a heart attack. He was healthy. Tell me he was blown up, but don’t tell me he died of a heart attack. Tell me there was a mistake ... It’s been crazy for all of us to wrap our hands around. I don’t know that’s something many of us will even be able to come to grips with.”
Bunn is remembered for being a great co-worker and father of six. Tammy said the family was affectionately known as "the Bunn Bunch" for being a loving, caring, and blended family. Senior Master Sgt. David Wood told the Shreveport Times:
“He was all about those kids, baseball and coaching,” Wood said. “He talked about them all the time. He was a huge part of their lives.”
