Outraged by Rush Limbaugh? Want to avoid supporting the advertisers that support him? Many of you are familiar with the excellent work of StopRush.net in compiling a database of his show's advertisers. However, it can be hard to remember to consult the database when you are going about your life or to keep up with it as it changes. ThinkContext is an extension for you web browser that takes the data off of the StopRush.net website and brings it to you as you go about your daily web browsing.
Say you are looking to buy flowers online. You do a Google search for "flowers". One of the top search results is 1-800-Flowers, a Limbaugh advertiser. If you have ThinkContext installed, it will notify you of this by displaying an icon next to the Google search result.
Hover the mouse over the icon and a small window pops up with more information and a link to the information page on StopRush.net.
This is just one of ThinkContext's features, but hopefully it gives you a taste of what it can do and how valuable it can be to bring this valuable data into your everyday life.
ThinkContext is aimed at giving progressives contextually relevant information in order to more fully live their values. So, in addition to data from StopRush.net, ThinkContext also utilizes data on progressive news, union status of hotel workers, and green businesses. We're a new project that is just getting started, so we're working on adding new features and getting more sources of progressive information. Visit us at thinkcontext.org to read more about the project and to install the software. We'd love to hear what you think here or on Twitter (@thinkcontext).
