This is going to be a rather short diary, since we only have a few photos from the Houston Area Kossacks March 30 meet-up. I was unable to make it to this one, but the wonderful doraphasia managed to get a few pictures, which I'll share with everybody.
The March 30 meet-up took place at Libby Shaw's house and was our first-ever potluck. Like I said, I wasn't there, but I hear reports that it was a great success, with about fifteen people in attendance. That includes some new folks: Blood, mister mustardhead, and Grizzard. Like I've said before, I consider any meet-up that garners a new person to be a success, and this one garnered three, so there ya go.
We had representatives from Organizing for Action (OFA) at the meet-up, who talked to us about OFA, Battleground Texas, Engage Texas, and the Texas Democratic Party. Other discussion included Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar training (which a few of our group members are planning to attend to help Texas turn blue!) and becoming a precinct chair. Our group is quickly putting its activist feet on the ground. I can't wait to see what we become and what positive effect we help create on local and state politics.
Without further ado, the pictures. Follow me below the fold.
Please keep in mind that the following pictures only capture some of the people who were at the meet-up. Like I said, it's a short photo diary. But a few are better than none! :)

Our next meet-up will be in late April. Aside from our regular social and political agenda, we are also planning to have a Daily Kos tutorial session for those not as familiar with the site. Stay tuned for details!
If you're in the Houston area and haven't joined the Houston Area Kossacks group, feel free to send me a Kosmail to request to join. We do all of our communication via e-mail, however, so please also include an e-mail address so we can keep you in the loop!
Also, if you're a Houstonian and wondering how you can get involved in local and state politics aside from joining our group, there will be a Battleground Texas meeting this Saturday, April 6, from 3:00 to 5:00. Please RSVP here. Here is the address of the meeting:
IBEW Hall
1475 N. Loop W
Houston, TX 77008
I hope to see some of you there! Also, while you're at it, "like" the Battleground Texas
