This poor guy.
Joe Berti finished the Boston Marathon just moments before the bombs went off. Although he worried that his wife was watching from the finish line, she was actually about ten yards away and only suffered shrapnel but no real injury.
They flew home to Austin, Texas, considering themselves so lucky to have finished the race without problems. He was running for a charity that supports children with unusual medical issues, Champions4Children.
So, yesterday he was in Dallas for a meeting and drove home late, south on I-35. As he neared Waco, he noticed the fire from the interstate. And then felt the explosion.
Now normally I would quip that if this poor guy didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any. But, to survive both explosions, to witness both explosions and come away unscathed is hardly bad luck. He may be the luckiest man in the country today.
