They didn't get the truck the police department promised them, but they did get a nice settlement. With it, they can replace their truck, and if they are conservative in spending and investing, won't need to drive a paper route any more.
Now, if they choose to drive a paper route because they like being up that early in the morning, that's totally different. There's something soothing about being out when everyone else is asleep. The world is quiet and calm, and the air is expectant. The night stars are being put off in preparation for the rising sun. Comfortable anticipation.
And they now have the ability to choose to drive a paper route or not. In a new truck they can afford to buy.
I wish all police mistakes were resolved to the benefit of the innocents they harm in the aggressive and careless pursuit of their duties.
Not every case of innocent people being injured or having property damaged have such a resolution. I am glad for these women. I guess it's back to working to see that others receive the proper reparations for law enforcement damages.
