Hooray and WOW:
SCOTUS sprang a surprise today ruled that an Arizona state law may not require documentary proof of citizenship from voters. The ruling was based on the conclusion that the AZ law is at odds with a federal law — the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 — that allows voters to register by swearing on a federal form under penalty of perjury that they are citizens.
The decision was written by Scalia (!!!!!) The decision was 7-2, with Thomas and Alito dissenting.
