The cracks are starting to show. Conservatives know that in the long run, they're doomed. And you can see them acting like it.
That's why I don't explode with outrage every time some wing-nut says something ridiculous and infuriating. They can't help themselves.
For example this weekend we have a Fox News Guest literally telling a female (faux-Liberal) guest to "Know your role and shut your mouth".
Controversy erupted Friday at the Fox News Channel over a confrontation between two guests on “The Sean Hannity Show” in which contentious right-wing radio host Bill Cunningham attacked commentator Tamara Holder, pointing his finger in her face and firing volley after volley of sexist insults. At one point, according to Media Matters, Cunningham told Holder to “Shut up. Know your role and shut your mouth.”
“My role as a woman?” asked Holder.
“Yeah, yeah,” said Cunningham.
...
Particularly appalling was a moment later in the segment when Holder simply stopped talking and hung her head in frustration.
“What, are you going to cry?” Cunningham needled.
This of course is just a standard example of what passes for phony "debate" on Fox News. The Conservative takes a bogus straw-man position - in this case that Attorney General Eric Holder should be removed or impeached for signing a warrant to wiretap James Rosen - and the fake "Liberal" then pretends to fight back with weak arguments and never mentions the strongest point they have, that Eric Holder was
recused from this investigation and consequently not apprised personally of every minute detail of it. He was more than an arms-length away from what was going on since he could have been
one of the sources of the leak himself. He trusted his people to make good judgements, the question
should be "why didn't they?"
But that doesn't fit the narrative of Fox propaganda which is basically "Holder Bad. Smash."
The point isn't Holder, it's that when they tried to have their little skit of psycho-drama and pseudo-balance, it ran horribly off the rails as Cunningham's Inner Asshole just couldn't hold itself back. They can't maintain the mask of civility anymore. They're losing it, bit by bit, and there are good reasons why.
You can see the cracks everytime they say something more and more batshit moronic. You have the Conservative OB/GYN who claims that fetuses masterbate, as a way to argue that a 20-Week Abortion Ban is still Too Long to Wait.
We really don't need to discuss how stupid that is, do we?
The Senate has to spend another $30 Billion on the Militarized Border Surge, even though migration across our southern border is already at NET ZERO.
But you see, Spending is out "biggest problem" so the House has to vote to cut $25 Billion from Food Stamps (SNAP) and that's still not enough because - y'know - King Crab Legs.
This is a party that believes they are the "Victim" when they are blocked from taking rights away from other people. For them, the Church is being "oppressed" when it refuses to let other people do stuff, like having access to birth control, or be a member of the Boy Scouts while not being hetero-sexual. Oh, the poor Church, however will it survive when it can't restrict the freedom of women and gays?
They really don't get that entire "end of my nose, tip of yours" freedom-ish thingy.
The reason I'm not worried by all these little ticks and fits of wing-nut-ism is the simple and obvious truthgasm that Lyndsay Graham had a few days back.
“But if we don’t pass immigration reform, if we don’t get it off the table and in a reasonable, practical way, it doesn’t matter who you run in 2016,” he said, Raw Story reported. “We’re in a demographic death spiral as a party. And the only way we can get back in good graces with the Hispanic community, in my view, is pass comprehensive immigration reform. If you don’t do that, it really doesn’t matter who we run in my view.”

He was exactly correct, they are in a demographic death spiral on the national front. What does the GOP Do after
Texas Turns Blue?
As we can see with the GOP's fitful attempts at Immigration Reform, I really don't think their heart is in it. They really don't believe they can begin to win back the Hispanic vote because - they've shown for decades how much they don't like "those people", and those people have noticed. They've really noticed.
Those people know that the GOP is simply desperate. They aren't stupid. Neither are we.
It's just like when Rand Paul tried to go to Howard University and Lecture Them on how the GOP was the "True Party" of Civil Rights.
Rand Paul: How did the party that elected the first black U.S. senator, the party that elected the first 20 African American congressmen, become a party that now loses 95 percent of the black vote? How did the Republican Party, the party of the Great Emancipator, lose the trust and faith of an entire race?
Apparently he didn't know the answer to his own question. Barry Goldwater's opposition to the Civil Rights Act. An opposition, which was virtually
identical to Rand Paul's own opposition to it on the basis that Business Owners have the right to tell "Other People" what rights they have or don't have.
Yeah, because the Free Market is exactly the vehicle we should use to create Equity and Fairness because it's done such a bang-up job of that over the last 400 plus years. Particularly for African-Americans.
Republicans love to talk about Dixiecrats and former Klan-members like Robert Byrd (Although he renounced the Klan, and proved it with his actions going forward). But Ok, I'll raise and call that with Republican Strom Thurman who raped his 15-year-old maid, raised a bi-racial daughter in secret for decades, ran for President on a Pro-Segregation Platform and still holds the record for the longest filibuster ever when he tried to block the Civil Rights Act of 1957.
Then there's Richard Nixon and his "Southern Strategy". Lee Atwater. Willie Horton. Or how the GOP has treated our current "Muslim/Kenyan/Socialist/Communist/America-Hating" Commander-in-Chief. Sorry but it's far too soon for us to forget "Joker-Bama", the Bone-thru-the-Nose Witch-Doctor-Obama, Watermelon on the White House Lawn and "Barack the Pimp with Michelle the Ho" pictures.
And then Paul wonders why the GOP has weak cred with African Americans? I'm still wondering where and how they get the 5% support they have with us. And worse, he blames Black Racism against Whites for his poor reception at Howard?
Paul acknowledged criticism for the speech he gave at Howard University Wednesday, saying, “I think some think a white person is not allowed to talk about black history ... which I think is unfair.”
Unfair?
Seriously, dude.
Sure they can talk about it - they just aren't allowed to Fuck it UP right in front of a room full of well informed Black people who Know Better!
The GOP can't repair the damage it's done with it's relationship with any of these groups, when they can't even admit they've been doing damage to these groups. Nobody believes "I'm Sorry" when you're not, when your actual motivation is nothing more than Saving your own Ass. Period.
If Paul with Blacks and Marco Rubio with Hispanics is an example of how they're going to expand their base - I'm not worried about it.
The GOP is losing Women, it's losing Gays, it's LOST Latinos and Blacks. All it has left are pissed off Rich White Guys (Trump, Adelson, Romney), along with their pathetic sycophants and serfs (who believe they're gonna hit the Magical Mystical Free Market Lottery any second now. Any minute. Just wait. I'll happen.)
They know this, they know their half-hearted, half-baked attempts to "reach out" while retaining policies that degrade, dehumanize and disenfranchise the very people they need to maintain demographic relevance - is DOOMED.
So although they're noisy, they're annoying, they're blocking dozens of measures - from meaningful infrastructure and jobs bills to the stupidity of the Sequester - they're going to Lose.
All the screaming, the flailing, the nutttiness and the meanness - all the ALEC sponsored bills rammed through the State Legislatures - as horrible as they are in the short-term it's all good to me because THEY WiLL ALL BACKFIRE just as they Voter-Suppression efforts led to record minority turnout. In the end, these are all just a long scraggly Death Rattle.
And it couldn't happen to a party that deserves it more.
Once that's done we'll have the hard work to do - dealing with those damn two-timing, double-dealing, back-stabbing, hippie-punching cowardly Democrats.
They worry me.
