All right, I'm going to break my promise to not write original diaries on DailyKos in order to address what I like to refer to as "Hillarymania": Democrats, Republicans, and the mainstream media using speculation about whether or not Hillary Clinton will run for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in 2016 to collectively turn politics into a money-making venture.
A group of former Obama campaign operatives have formed a SuperPAC designed to convince Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016, and, in June of this year, they raised over a million dollars.
Meanwhile, Republican front groups, such as Stop Hillary PAC, are also raising some serious cash off of Hillarymania as well.
Also, NBC has announced that they intend to air a four-part miniseries as part of an attempt to make money and get high ratings off of Hillarymania.
I'll just ask this question: What if Hillary doesn't run?
Without getting into the speculation about other Democrats who may consider running for president, I'll just say that Ready for Hillary, Stop Hillary PAC, NBC, and every other outfit that is trying to make money off of Hillarymania will have collectively scammed their donors, advertisers, viewers, etc. if Hillary doesn't run. In fact, Hillary announcing that she'll not run for president could be the single thing that breaks the stranglehold that big money has in our country's political system.
