It was a matter of time....
They're coming back!
The out of state company that provided
masked, camouflaged paramilitary guards carrying assault weapons
have now been issued the required permit to "protect" drilling sites in northern Wisconsin forests as major Scott Walker donor Gogebic Taconite seeks out the richest deposits of iron ore to strip out of our state.
After scaring the crap out of people hiking in the forest, they were forced to leave when it was discovered that they lacked the permit required.
A spokeswoman for the state Department of Safety and Professional Services announced Monday the firm is now licensed. Guards with the firm will soon join those from other companies who are already at the site, according to the mining company.
Also, the state has dismissed complaints against the security firm for operating without a license, said a statement from the department spokeswoman, Brittany Lewin.
Bulletproof began operating on July 4 at the site of the potential iron ore pit mine proposed by Gogebic Taconite. But the paramilitary-style guards were pulled back a week later after it was revealed the firm did not have a license to provide private security.
(bolding is mine)
Providing security without a permit can be punished with a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $500 and 3-6 months in prison. They can also be barred from providing ANY security work for a year.
However, if the company that hired you is a major Scott Walker donor, responsibility and accountability or any kind of punishment doesn't seem to even be considered and permits just appear out of thin air despite complaints of lawbreaking.
So, no having a permit to provide security while a Walker donor - no problem. Issue the permit, dismiss any complaints, and consider the matter closed.
That's right, no fine or even a hearing on the multiple complaints. Sweet deal for them!
Singing in the Capitol or being a fawn in a no kill shelter without a permit - BIG problem Send in the goon squad!
It's all hypocrisy all the time now.
Gogebic Taconite has gotten quite a bit out of their "investment" in Scott Walker. A nice shiny new mining law that allows them to get a quick permit without all that pesky environment impact concerns that usually cause delays and a pretty nice exemption from a whole lot of environment laws so they can turn all that iron ore into profits rather than spend a dime protecting the land, air or water.
Because freeeedum! Their freedom, not ours.
To add insult to injury, the security firm they hired wasn't even local! They're from Arizona. Nice one, Walker. Creating jobs for out of state security guards. What's next? Miners from China?
Hey, it's FitzWalkerStan. Down is up, wrong is right, and the earth is flat.
