It's Sunday once more.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
Have I mentioned that July was a pretty dead month at work? I even did filing. I hate filing.
I knew August would be busier.
I didn't know I would be run off my feet.
In my personal life, I went with my offspring to visit my mother and stepfather after getting a car repair seen to. Then I broke a tooth. Getting that taken care of took care of the next morning, and I got to work to find an email requiring materials for a grant submission to be got to UCLA by the end of the week. I also found that my boss had been telling everybody that I wouldn't be in at all, though I had told him I would be just before I left the previous day.
The materials for the grant proposal were a very slight revision of a previous submission and we were able to get tentative numbers to the people who needed them by the Friday. Three weeks is the usual turnaround, but it was signed off and official the following Monday. Practically identical helped. A lot.
The brillig crew were in town (and are coming back for a few days). The get-together was fun. One man coming by with his own group looked us over and said, "Family reunion?" Several of us answered that we were online friends getting together. I said, "Yeah, family reunion." And several others agreed with that - including some of the ones who had already answered.
I had an appointment this past Thursday to get a temporary crown. I hate white-knuckling it through dentist visits. The nerves in my mouth aren't quite in the normal locations and the novocaine didn't entirely take effect. And on Friday, I took my car back in for the final repair that doesn't have its own warning light.
Amongst all the above, we have to get a storage room emptied before the end of the month. Guess who is in charge - and who has been doing a lot of the sort and toss that has already been done?
