Tens of billions of dollars are at stake for the for profit corporate-controlled and run national security apparatus. Top functionaries move through a revolving door of corruption between government agencies and corporations who profit from the arrangement.
The selfless and patriotic actions of Edward Snowden and the bravery of Glenn Greenwald, and the editors of The Guardian and other news organizations have exposed "the tip of the iceberg" when it comes to the criminal, illegal and unconstitutional actions of these government/corporate entities.
Today, after two years of litigation, the Electronic Frontier Foundation won a hard-fought legal battle forcing the government to release a FISA court opinion "that declared aspects of the NSA's surveillance under Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act to be unconstitutional."
Anybody who has been paying attention should suspect by now that it is highly likely that there will be many more revelations exposing not only illegality and violations of the Constitution, but outright corruption, given the vast sums of money that's being transferred to these corporations, much of it as the result of profiteering.
We are in the middle of a very dangerous period, where further exposure of illegalities, corruption and violations of the Constitution could have a very real effect on the profiteering aspect of this whole enterprise.
As freedom-loving citizens who value and respect democracy, the rule of law, and the U.S. Constitution we need to keep the pressure up until we have a full account of the wrongdoing, and until we are able to effect the type of change needed to protect us against exploitation and oppression.
That will only happen when a wall of separation between corporate profiteers and government institutions tasked with national security is erected, replacing the revolving door of corruption.
Let's not ever let these forces manipulate us with fear-mongering, lies, and misinformation, ever again.
