Where are all the LGB spokespeople while we are left to argue with the Fundaloons over basic protections?
We go out to get signatures for petitions so you can marry, and we can not.
We protest DADT with you so you can serve, and we can not.
We hold up our end of the bargain and while you are getting Sailor Bob to walk down the aisle with you we are in some cases fighting for our lives.
THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT – After the transgender community was overrun by a conservative tsunami following the recent signing of California’s trans kids equality bill, nary a word was heard from leaders of the LGB community — the T’s were left to fend for themselves.
The primary defense of the bill came from Transgender Law Center’s Masen Davis — who did a remarkable job, But as some observers noticed, and something I’ve commented on numerous times, the piling onto trans people by conservatives and some in the media was simply outrageous. This warranted a quick and equally strong response from all LGBT advocates, not just trans advocates, to educate the general public. Did we see this? I don’t think so.
I have never been to any LGBT organization that is trying to get something off the ground where Transgender individuals are not over represented. And I doubt that will change.
But could you just take a moment and support us while Fundaloons rant about denying us the chance to use a safe bathroom?
Could you take a stand and insist that denying us essential care is cruel and unusual punishment, not only to those incarcerated but those of us lacking insurance that covers our care?
Strength in unity is the only way we will all maintain our civil rights.
