I will not rest until I have to sell Wisconsin to Minnesota.
WISCONSIN IS BROKE! That was the cry just about two years ago from Governor Scott Walker when he dropped the bomb and set off months of protests and recall election after recall election.
The economy in Wisconsin is still not doing very well. We are 42nd out of 50 states in job creation and during the first legislative session of the year the Wisconsin State Assembly passed new rules about dress codes in the assembly chambers, allowed concealed carry in the assembly chambers, banned books and writing materials from the assembly gallery. Nothing was done in regards to job creation, funding education, or any other pressing need in this once great state.
TAX CUTS! That is Scott Walker's rallying cry today. On Thursday Governor Walker rolled out the same tired old GOP plan that will do nothing but make Wisconsin a poorly educated shell of its former self. His plan?
Walker told reporters after a speech at a Wisconsin Bankers Association economic forecast luncheon he'll include what he called a "significant" income tax cut in the spending plan. In his remarks to the association he called the cut a "down payment," telling reporters later he'd like to return more money to consumers as the economy expands.
Wisconsin cannot afford any additional cuts, "the tools," that Scott Walker promised would fix all of Wisconsin's ills have devastated our educational and other governmental services. Starving them of even more money is not going to educate our children, create jobs, and it is not going to spur Wisconsin's economy. It is the same GOP story, they claim government does not work. Then, they cut government funding. When a government agency fails then the GOP points to the failure and says, "See, we told you it doesn't work."
