I was at work this morning when I got a call from Iowa.
(515) 724-7047.
It was a robocall screeching about the upcoming end of civilization that would surely occur if traditional marriage were sullied by attempts at allowing same-sex couples to marry.
This was a call from Iowa, about legislation in Illinois. I live in neither state (though have lived in both in the past).
Who Called US lists this number as a source of previous right-wing robocalls...
"Veterans for America" calling to spread slurs about Sherrod Brown.
One of the people called from this number in 2010 said it was from Chet Culver's campaign
(Culver was a centrist Democratic governor from Iowa, but who has supported same sex civil unions at least.)
It was pretty irritating to get a call like this on this particular phone number during work. My job is such that I absolutely have to answer phone calls, and I get them from many different area codes.
Whoever gave them my number didn't do a very good job screening, as I can't imagine anything that would suggest I'd be receptive to a homophobic robo-rant.
In fact, it pissed me off enough that I've decided to donate some money.
It went to Lambda Legal.
