Severe, as in thunderstorms, likely to produce tornadoes, hail, and strong winds. The kind of weather you would expect in March at the earliest.
The threat of severe weather extends northward from eastern Texas to Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. The storms in Michigan right now, in particular, look nasty. More bizarrely, the deeply southern-penetrating jet stream is bringing heat to places that don't usually see it this time of year; Chicago is expected to tie for a high in January of 59 Fahrenheit today. The backside of this line of storms is expected to be frigid.
Bizarre weather is becoming the norm in this country. Not hard to guess why.
Good luck out there today, everyone; it's a day to be watchful.
