Birthers Undeterred by Montana Woman's First Usurpathon Failure
It seems that yet another group of birthers are planning a coup to overthrow the government and arrest President Obama, or as birthers call the leader of the free world, "the Great Usurper." The tea partiers say they're taking the President and locking him up in a Florida prison because a "citizens grand jury"
sentenced him to 10 years for having a fake birth certificate.
The birthers, lead by Larry Klayman, have somehow deduced that the president is not going to surrender himself to a Florida prison. Apoplectic, they are calling on "millions" of people "to descend on Washington, D.C., en masse, and demand that he leave town and resign" or face prison time. Among those encouraged to show up are
"those who have been appalled and disgusted" by the President's "anti-white" agenda including "TEA partiers, bikers, construction workers, and truckers."
Of course, this has been tried before. A Montana woman named Kate Vandoemer, who runs a birther website and leads an anti-tribal sovereignty group, launched a campaign to organize 10,000 TEA Partiers and birthers from across the U.S. to descend on Washington in 2010. The goal: unseat “the Usurper,” President Obama, with a national event she called “The Usurpathon.”
“Out from the depths, out of every seam on the sidewalk, from every neglected corner, from the ether we come–filled with the mission of thousands, and the intention of millions to begin the usurpathon–the siege and removal of the Obama administration.”
Unfortunately for Vandemoer, only two people showed up for the Usurpathon. (She claimed after the fact that she intended only two people to show up because more than three people would have required her to get a government permit.) Hilariously, the blog "Oh for Goodness Sake" has obtained actual photos of the first Usurpathon event, which you can
view here.
Vandemoer's failure isn't stopping Klayman. He says that "the great usurper, Barack Hussein Obama, after having been indicted by an Ocala, Florida citizens' grand jury, was convicted by a people's court of defrauding the American people and Floridians" [presumably some Floridans are not also Americans, thus the separate mention] "by proffering them with a fake birth certificate."
For some reason, the President did not show up to this birther "citizens grand jury" in some Florida swamp shack (or where ever) which apparently means that he "waived his right to a jury trial."
And so, the "citizens' judge" found the President "guilty on two counts of falsifying information to federal and state election officials." AKA, having a fake birth certificate and getting elected president twice. "He was thus sentenced to the maximum prison term for these offenses of 10 years, and ordered to immediately surrender himself into the custody of the citizens of the United States and Florida."
If this citizens grand jury concept sounds familiar, its because Montana TEA partiers want to legalize such groups in Montana. As the Flathead Beacon reported in 2009, a bitterooter drafted ballot initiative language and a group of TEA Partiers began meeting to draft citizen grand jury legislation. Sen. Verdell Jackson, R-Kalispell, has been involved in the movement and helped organize meetings on the topic.
The state has dark history of "citizen grand jury" type groups. As the Button Vally Bugle reports, the Montana legislature authorized a citizens' "Council of Defense" to enforce "standards of Americanism." They convicted 78 Montana citizens of sedition and sent them to prison. The victims of the Montana Sedition Act were officially pardoned by Governor Brian Schweitzer in 2006.
