The gunfire in Washington DC today prompted a lockdown of the entire Capitol Building. Law enforcement was rightly worried that Senators and Representatives might be a target of whatever craziness was transpiring outside. Police were so concerned that in one instance they asked a legislator to remove the lapel pin that identified him as a member of Congress.
Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA), however, seemed to care more about his ease of commute, not to mention his gargantuan ego.
From The New York Times:
During the lockdown, the police permitted some members of Congress to walk through the underground tunnel that connects the Capitol to the Senate office buildings.
At one point, Representative Darrell Issa, Republican of California, snapped at the police guarding the entrance to the tunnel, “Let me past, I am going through,” as he walked at a fast clip back toward the Capitol.

Too bad we didn't have Issa at the consulate in Benghazi when it was under siege - his withering condescension might have stopped the attackers in their tracks.
