I FOLLOWED THE MONEY and so can you! -- I will show you how below. It's so easy!!! I found a new, free, easy-to-use, searchable non-profit IRS 990 Tax Return source we can use to see who the Kochs funnel their money to.
Not only are the Non-Profit 990 Tax Returns searchable, we can also copy and paste what we find there. This makes sharing the data so much easier, too.
I hope others will use these tools to help expose the KOCH MONEY TRAIL used by the Koch Cabal to undermine our very democracy. We must stop the Koch Cabal Coup!
Here's the link we can use from the Foundation Center to find non-profit's 990 IRS Tax Returns which list where they spend their money.
I searched for Koch and 150 hits popped up. Of course, not all these are the Koch Brothers, but many are as there are multiple entries for each organization or one each for each year a 990 Non-Profit Tax Return was filed.
What I really love about this search site is that all you have to do to find out where their money is being spent is
1. Search for a non-profits title or their EIN #
2. Click on one of the tax years that pops up for the non-profit.
3. When the tax return opens up, use your FIND feature and search for either GRANTS to see all the grants, or just the EIN # or name of a non-profit you are interested in. The search/find will bring you to the page within the tax return that lists who was given money, the EIN or name
Often, not always each Grantee listed includes their IRS ID# or EIN #. This is important because what I am learning is that the Koch non-profits grant money to other non-profits who then forward that money to other non-profits and so on.
Confusion can hide crime. Remember, it was the IRS that brought down the Mob.
Below I use the example of how the Koch affiliated Center to Protect Patients Rights funneled $14,000,000 in three years to the Koch anti-AARP group, 60 Plus (aka Sixty Plus).
Pay close attention to the details shown in the IRS documents. A lot of information is revealed. A lot. I have let the documents tell the story for the most part.
The words printed in brown are links to the original documents.
For example, the Sixty Plus Association, EIN ID 54-1564919, received funding from Koch funded Center to Protect Patients Rights (CPR) in 2009, 2010, and 2011 (shown below).
You may recall a hard-hitting 2012 article that exposed the Kochs, the Center to Protect Patients Rights, and Sean Noble, President of CPR.
Koch Operative Steered $55 Million To Front Groups Airing Ads Against Democrats; Ads Assailed Candidates Over Abortion, 9/11, Medicare
In the article, Lee Fang states:
The Center acted as a pass-through to distribute $44,599,946 in grants in 2010, and $10,783,500 the year before. Novak and Maguire also reported that the Center’s tax forms were prepared by at least one employee of the DCI Group, a lobbying business.
Though the document does not reveal where the Center receives its funds, the tax forms available online from 2009 and 2010 indicate that Sean Noble, Koch’s campaign commercial operative, managed the foundation.
Well, this is where Muckety Maps comes in handy. Here's the Center's maps come in handy.
On this map you will see some Corporate Donors who donate to Citizens for a Sound Economy who connect to the Center via Cheryl Hillen. Also note that the Goldwater Institute connects to a Center Fundraiser via Jess Yescalis. Larger, Interactive map link here.
This Muckety Map shows who the Center passes money to although Yescalis and Project Education are fundraisers for the Center to Protect Patients Rights.
Again, I use the Muckety Maps to find names of non-profits to search for in the Foundation Center 990 IRS Tax Return search site linked here.

Well, it's one thing to read an article, but it is jaw dropping to see that actual tax returns along with the article.
I will present snippets from the article along with the supporting tax return information.
On Non-Profit 990 tax returns, the non-profit is required to state its mission statement.
The following is copy/pasted from the Page 2 of the Center To Protect Patient Rights, Inc. 2011 Tax Return. I highlighted the items relating to health care.
Coalition Building The organization helped to build a coalition of like minded organizations and individuals, which worked to educate the public about
limited government,
free enterprise, and
healthcare reform and
advocate in favor of limited government,
free enterprise,
and patient rights
Issue Advocacy/ Legislative Advocacy
The organization engaged in helping to plan, create, design and execute an
issue advocacy /legislative awareness campaign in conjunction with its broad based limited government, free enterprise, and healthcare coalition.
Center To Protect Patient Rights, Inc. granted the following monies to 60 Plus (if you double click the pics you will see a larger version as well as a link to each tax return beneath the pics)
– The 60 Plus Association, which received $11,625,000 from the Center, runs aggressive ads against Democrats in both the House and Senate.
The group was set up as a Republican response to the AARP. In 2010, the 60 Plus Association blanketed the nation with ads that charged that Democrats had “betrayed” seniors by passing health reform and cut Medicare.
The Center acted as a pass-through to distribute $10,783,500 in 2009
$2,635,000 of which went to 60 Plus in 2009
The Center acted as a pass-through to distribute $44,599,946 in grants in 2010
$8,990,000 of which went to 60 Plus
$2,404,000 in 2011.
In only three years, the Center to Protect Patient Rights Inc granted Sixty Plus (60 Plus) $14,029,000
I like to work with both the Foundation Center searchable tax returns and Muckety Maps.
Here's the Muckety Map for 60 plus (aka Sixty Plus)
Under the flickr pic, you will find a link to an INTERACTIVE MUCKETY MAP. Here's the link for 60 Plus.
As you can see on their website, 60 Plus hopes to cut Social Security Benefits and undermine the efforts of AARP which 60 Plus refers to as the Association Against Retired Persons.
I have used 60 Plus because of the huge amount effort made by its funders to destroy our social safety net, especially Medicare and Social Security.
From Lee Fang's article cited above:
The Center’s $55 million grant budget, raised possibly in connection to the Koch fundraisers — one of which Sean Noble and some of the wealthiest Republican billionaires in the country attended only months before the midterm elections — certainly raises the stakes in terms of calculating how much the current Republican Congress owe their current political fortunes to the Koch machine. From cutting the EPA to passing bills to undermine the Clean Air Act, Congress has handsomely rewarded the business interests of Koch Industries.
In closing, I believe the $Billions being used by the Koch Cabal, which includes many right wing billion and millionaires, as well as media whores and politicians from dog catcher up to Speaker of the House believe they are one primary election away from taking over complete control of the US Congress.
Historically, they have a good chance of doing so as the President's party usually loses to the opposition party in a primary.
HOWEVER!!!! One thing that can change the historical balance is a big scandal.
We have the tools to prepare hundreds of documents that might expose some IRS shennigans which resulted in the 2010 sweep by Tea Party candidates and continued thereafter.
Will we? Are we willing to do the grunt work it takes and have patience with the sometimes grueling processes of gathering and artfully presenting the information.
Are we going to let this opportunity to pull the curtain completely back to show that our country is being bought and that our constitution is being trashed by money?
Between the searchable tax returns, Muckety Maps, and some good work done by citizen journalists, the process isn't all that difficult anymore, comparatively speaking.
Pick a non-profit that you know is connected to the Kochtopus and write it up. Expose the inconsistencies.
If you go to this article you will find many of the non-profits that are being used to funnel money.
Pictorial Response to Today's NYTimes Koch Brothers Exposé w/new IRS Research Instructions ADDED
I think the Kochs and their cabal are getting a little nervous that we might crack this case, that is why they are once again asking the Supreme Court for more SCOTUS sanctioned freedoms to buy elections because Citizens United (the gaul) just wasn't enough. Nothing will ever be enough.
Stop the fascism.

THIS IS JUST A TEENSY, WEENSY TIP OF THE ICEBERG
Will someone help me dig? TC4 Trust deserves some close scrutiny.
The GOLDWATER INSTITUTE - spending millions to fight Obamacare by researching, writing legal opinions and taking cases to court, and getting a lot of media attention.
For example: Coons v Geithner (Federal Health Care Lawsuit)
Goldwater Tax returns here.
This is from their website. Goldwater Institute helps the Koch Cabal with legalese.
States Can Save Taxpayers $609 Billion (mine... Supports rejection of Medicaid Expansion_
Using figures compiled by Kaiser and our own research at the state level, the Goldwater Institute estimates that the federal tab for Medicaid expansion has been reduced by more than $424 billion in new federal spending over the next eight years thanks to the 18 states that have already opted out. If the 12 still-undecided states also decide to opt out, there will be an additional $185 billion in savings.
The more than $609 billion in total savings from these 30 states would represent over 50% of the expected federal spending on the Medicaid expansion. A drop in the bucket? That's more than seven times the $85 billion in 2013 sequester cuts and more than half the projected federal deficit for this fiscal year.

QUESTION: Is the Goldwater Institute the arm that helps craft legislation for ALEC to carry to the States?
