ANTIOCH, Tenn. – A man has been sent to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself at a Davidson County Walmart.
The shooting happened at the Walmart on 3035 Hamilton Church Road in Antioch around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Company officials confirmed the man was at a cash register when he shot himself in the leg with his concealed weapon as he was checking out.
The man was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers from the Metro Nashville Police Department were on the scene and talking to witnesses to determine exactly what happened.
The area around the checkout counters was roped off while police conducted their investigation.
The victim's identity was not released.
Store officials said no one else at the store was ever in danger.
Bear in mind this is in Tennessee, where in October of 2011 Rep. Curry Todd (R), a Tennessee lawmaker and major proponent of legislation allowing gun owners to carry firearms in bars, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possession of a handgun while under the influence. The legislation as proposed would allow permit holders to carry into a bar, but only if they weren’t drinking (wink, wink).
Some of us aren't anti-gun, but rather anti-gun stupidity.
But really now, what better place to hold the NRA national convention in 2015 than in Nashville, TN. Ya reckon stuff like this may be why ya cain't carry at NRA headquarters?
Yee ha ladies and gentlemen, yee ha.
