When my friend Mike heard I was going to visit Chicago, he--being a "fish" guy and a former resident of the Windy City--told me to make sure I made it to the Shedd Aquarium. And I did.
It's not very large, and can be seen comfortably in half a day. Since the Adler Planetarium is literally next door, I made a day out of visiting both spots.

So here are some of my photos from Shedd:
The Shedd Aquarium
Terrapin

Oldwife fish
Moray eel
Alaskan spider crab, and his reflection
Butterfly reef fish
African cichlid fish
Amazon River archer fish. They shoot drops of water at insects along the riverbank
Red-bellied piranha. Amazon River. I used to keep a small school of these when I lived in Pennsylvania--they are illegal to keep here in Florida.
Central American bullet ants. Compare to the size of these mealworms. I got stung by one of these ants in Nicaragua. Owwww.
A White's tree frog, from Australia
A popeye catalufa fish
Jellyfish
Anemones
Arrowana. A prehistoric-looking Amazon fish
African lungfish. About 5 feet long
