1. We had our employee health insurance meeting yesterday.
My premium went up by $4 per paycheck ($8 per month).
The copay went up from $25 to $30.
The deductible went up - from $1000 to $1350.
The out of pocket max went up - from $3500 to $4000.
I am okay with all of this.
2. I could use some tips on talking to people who had crap insurance and now are going to have to get better insurance which is going to cost more.
I keep running into people (well, really it's only two people) who say, "I thought I was supposed to be able to keep my insurance if I liked it! Now my premiums are going up by 50% and the whole policy is going to be cancelled in March. We were lied to!"
I want to say, "Dude, you were paying for crap coverage. Do you really like having crap coverage? I can understand not liking the fact that the new premiums will be higher, but have you checked to see if you will qualify for a subsidy?"
Actually, I don't know if the subsidies apply to insurance you get through your employer.
3. I've forgotten the third thing.
