Yes, I know there are 2 similar diaries out there. But I've heard three is a charm. And that the devil is in the details and my diary summarizes the other stuff from a different angle. And laughter is healthy. Let's laugh together.
I have usually zero interest in hearing anything Sarah Palin has to say. I cringe when I hear her speak. But it has been quite a while since I’ve heard or tried to read anything about her and today I did. At Daily Kos today I read the following title and I had to click on it: “Palin Asked for Her Alternative to ACA; She NAILS It!”.
I knew it is impossible that woman nails anything. Impossible that she could come up with a good alternative for Obamacare. I knew it was going to be funny. So for the first time since the 2008 elections I wanted to hear what she had to say.
Here is something not so funny that has not been mentioned, that the Tea Party really thinks she nailed it:
Whoa! Sarah Palin Eats Matt Lauer's Lunch – SLAMS Obama
Sarah Palin Demolishes Matt Lauer - The Rush Limbaugh Show
I am not sure who was funnier though. Palin or the blogger SemDem who introduced Palin’s statement with these words:
To all you haters out there: You gotta hand it to Lady Blah-Blah. Going on the lamestream media to face the wrath of the liberal machine, surely she knew that she was going to be asked about her plans for an alternative to the program she has been railing against for months. And in typical Palin fashion, she studied hard and prepared a perfect response to the liberal, socialist/fascist health-care huggers.
Matt Lauer asked Palin:
"What are we hearing from the Tea Party in terms of an absolute, realistic plan that can be an alternative to Obamacare?"
And Sarah Palin’s memorable, clear and concise response:
"The plan is to allow those things that had been proposed over many years to reform a health-care system in America that certainly does need more help so that there's more competition, there's less tort reform threat, there's less trajectory of the cost increases, and those plans have been proposed over and over again. And what thwarts those plans? It's the far left. It's President Obama and his supporters who will not allow the Republicans to usher in free market, patient-centered, doctor-patient relationship links to reform health care."
I forgot how hilarious she is. But how could I? Anyone remember her statement “We can see Russia from Alaska” in response to the question of what kind of foreign policy experience she has?
As pointed out by the DK blogger SemDem, a real journalist would have called her out on what she said: "You have previously supported tort reform, why not in this instance? What plans are you talking about that have been proposed over and over? How is the ACA not free market?"
Instead Lauer simply said "L-L-Let's move on…”
This is the perfect opportunity to remember a Palin interview with a better journalist, to remember that other time this lady was funny and gave us a good laugh, thus, here is that famous video of Katie Couric's interview of Palin in 2008:
