Mixed up SciFi & Fantasy as Doctor Who's TARDIS travels around the country.
Everyone loves the TARDIS, everyone loves to have their photo taken with it. So, here are a bunch of photos taken at recent conventions. My daughter and her husband (their company is Hangar 18 Props) built a TARDIS replica based on the 2005 series and have been displaying it at various comic cons and events.
I go along on some of the bigger journeys and assist fans with their photos. If I see someone interesting, in a costume of some sort, I'll shoot a photo for myself.
For example, here's 2 young ladies from Star Trek -
More photos below the orange Time And Relative Dimension In Space separator.
The photo above was taken at Necronomicon in October.
This woman stopped by during setup at this long-running Tampa convention -
The Dalek was made by another vendor, his first attempt. It was OK but got knocked around a bit. Kids just had to play with the "plunger".
Not sure who this is supposed to be in the uniform -
A family visiting from another time -
A common question was, of course, "Is it bigger on the inside?" We had various answers; my son-in-law would go into a long spiel about the surface area being bigger. And a lot of people played their TARDIS ringtones for us....
A steampunk couple being interviewed. They also came to our recent GLI-Expo, that's Gaslight Industries, Tallahassee's first-ever steampunk convention. Linda and Dana got second place in the costume contest.
This Elvira lookalike was a big hit for 2 very obvious and well-displayed reasons.
This was Elvira's friend. I enjoyed talking to her, all 6 feet of her. She said it was painful to "crack" a smile.
This was Mark 2 of their 2005 TARDIS. It was actually raffled off at this convention but unfortunately they did not quite get enough to cover the cost of Mark 3 which they are working on now. The young woman that won the raffle was very happy tho.
Here's 2 girls with their model Dalek and K-9. Can you tell how thrilled they were to see the full-sized TARDIS?
-------------
On to the Cincy ComiCon last September. We were there both days and I must have had a 1000 people stop by for photos.
All set up and ready for the crowds -
TARDIS dresses are very popular -
Posing next to the Combat Dalek -
Various Doctors and all kinds of Sonic Screwdrivers -
A baby Doctor -
This woman as a Steampunk Captain America was awesome!
And other assorted characters posing -
I didn't get this box thing, some sort of popular retro video game. Little boys were buying a lot of these cardboard boxes tho -
And the winners of the half-size TARDIS that was raffled -

A final note. They are working hard to finish Mark 3 in time for Nov 23rd and a special appearance at a place we can't tell you about, non-disclosure agreement and all that. Somewhere down here along the Gulf Coast. After that, the ALT*Con TARDIS will be on display at the AMC Tallahassee 20, Monday, Nov 25 from Noon till 11:30 pm as part of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special showing of "The Day of the Doctor" in IMAX 3D! IMAX !! 3D !!!
oh yeah - you can "like" the ALT*Con TARDIS on Facebook or follow on Twitter to keep up with her journeys.
