It's Sunday once again!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
Does anybody else who comes here have a spate of family birthdays in November? I know it's not particularly rare to have them clumped - on the maternal side, I'm one of many born in April.
The reason I'm thinking about this is that today is my paternal grandfather's 109th (if I remember the year correctly). My grandfather died in a logging accident in June of 1963.
Yesterday would have been my father's 87th, except he died in early December of 1986.
My Aunt Betty (my father's sister) was born on November 1, 1928 (if I remember the age difference correctly). She died a couple of years ago. There's only my Aunt Mary left on that side of the family - I don't remember when her birthday is, but it isn't in November.
My youngest nephew was born on November 1st as well. He just turned (I think) 28 - his mother swore she tried to hang onto him for another 24 hours, or at least till after midnight. My brother who is the father of this particular nephew will turn 59 on November 12th.
My own contribution to that string is my secondborn, who just had her 8th wedding anniversary (on Halloween), and who will turn 31 on November 6th.
My own birthday is in April, two days before my older sister's. There is a 363 day difference between us, but since I honestly don't remember ever being smaller than her, and we usually got our birthday cake on the same day, I think there's a fair number of people who believe we are twins (if they remember me at all).
My firstborn arrived five days before I turned 25. And there is a small horde of aunts and uncles and cousins in April as well, some of whom are still alive.
Of my two maternal uncles, I forget which one was on which day, but they were both born in March - either four years plus one day or four years minus one day apart.
My paternal grandmother's birthday was in September - the day before my mother's. And my second mother-in-law is exactly three weeks older than my mother. The reason why I find this funny will become clear soon.
My first husband was born on July 25, 1953. My second on July 24, 1965. I'm currently 60. Think about it.
