Still not convinced? There is more ...
My Thoughts:
I often read complaints about education, jobs, immigration, etc. on Daily Kos.
We all know the future depends on education and to a great extent on computer skills.
Not just the "end user" skills all Daily Kos member have, but the skills to code computers to make them do what we need: to multiply the power of [people] X [information].
Heck, you wouldn't even be here reading this if it wasn't for coders who love you.
But ....
In fact, today, the USA is a net consumer of computer skills and is falling behind meeting those needs. The implications are, if it falls too far behind it will stop attracting the best and the brightest from other countries.
The solution is simple: educate American kids and American adults to fill as many of the gaps as possible and keep the nation attractive for the best talent.
Anyone can learn to code. It's really simpler than many people think.
And codeDOTorg, it's sponsors, President Obama and a whole lot of coders like me want your support and want you to try.
We want to get coding recognized as an essential skill so kids get credit for studying it and every school has a program to teach it.
You can do it. You can help. You can code. START HERE.
