It seems Pope Francis is missing no one as he reaches out to the masses, covering race, creed, religion, gender… and all ages. The pontiff met and spoke with 500 teens visiting the Vatican. He even posed for a 'selfie,' which is reportedly the first ever papal selfie. Not surprisingly, the photo has gone viral. Sunday was the first time I saw it, so I thought perhaps others have missed it as well. It very cute and brought a nice smile to my day.
Pope Francis continues to warm our hearts - a feeling and expression often used whenever his name comes up in a conversation. He spoke these words to the teens.
"You are bearers of hope. You, in fact, live in the present, but are looking at the future. You are the protagonists of the future, artisans of the future," the pope told the pilgrims.
"Make the future with beauty, with goodness and truth," he said. "Have courage. Go forward. Make noise."
I feel privileged, in a way, to witness such a beautiful human being, leader, and pope, in my lifetime. I'm thinking, "Oh, so this is why we have a pope." I would love to meet him one day. In the meantime, I'll settle for lovely video clips, news, quotes, and photos (or selfies) which he so generously bestows upon us almost daily. Yeah, I'm kind of crushing on Pope Francis.
