Have you been to the website for the Democratic Leadership Council lately?
It has not been updated in over 3 years, because it got shut down.
It got shut down because it could no longer bring in the investment banker rich pig money.
It could no longer bring in the investment banker rich pig money because politicians were disassociating themselves from the organization.
Politicians were disassociating themselves from the organization because it had become toxic among the primary voters in the party base.
Of course, as Hunter ably documents, the corporate donors just chose a new group to subvert the Democratic wing of the Democratic party, Third Way.
Well, following their Wall Street Journal OP/ED sliming Elizabeth Warren (no link, because they do not deserve the page views, and because it's the Rupert Fucking Murdoch's Wall Street Journal), it became known that PA Representative, and candidate for Governor, Alyson Schwartz was an honorary chair of the organization.
A front page diary has called for her to leave to organization, as has the PCCC, and Democracy for America.
They are wrong to ask for her resignation.
Asking her to leave the Third Way is both bad politics, and bad policy.
Why, and what should be done after the Kos Kaduceus:
Note that Rep. Schwartz is also a vice chair of the New Democratic Caucus, and voted for Bush's odious bankruptcy reform, has favored Telco consolidation, eschewed Maryland's sensible healthcare pricing regulations for Pennsylvania, etc.
She has consistently been on the side of Wall Street in the Wall Street/Main Street tug of war.
So, demanding her resignation from Third Way is the wrong thing, because it would be better on all levels to use this controversy to make sure that she loses the Democratic primary for Pennsylvania governor.
First, she is not good on issues of what the chattering classes call "economic populism," and second, a recent poll has Governor Tom Corbett as the lowest polling governor in the nation, which considering that his competition is Governor Batboy of Florida, is rather impressive, so I do not think that we need to worry about a contested primary throwing this to him.
She is currently the frontrunner, and if her Third Way and New Dem affiliations can be effectively used against her, it will serve to make both of those Wall Street lapdog organization less popular among members of Congress.
In other words, much like was done with the DLC, and to the Blue Dog Coalition, a concerted effort to make them politically toxic to the base.
