I don't write political diaries very much. Kitty diaries and personal ones, yes.
But I just had to, when I saw this. Riverbend is alive and well, thank God.
And wrote another post to her blog, "Baghdad Burning" in April of this year. I got curious and found that. And I was horrified at her plight, and very glad she has survived.
It brought it all back to me. How much I loathed George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. How much I really really hated those guys.
Brought it all back to me how I sat out on the front steps of my house and cried and raged when Paul Wellstone's plane went down. (I still think they did it.) How my next door neighbor thought I was crazy for thinking so.
Brought it all back to me how horrible CNN was in those days with their "shock and awe" bullshit and how horrible that was. And the rest of the media.
I want to see those guys in jail. I want to see them do the perp walk. I don't want to see George W. Bush living the good life in Dallas.
I know it will never happen. And Riverbend knows it too. I am so glad she is still with us.
Here is the link to Baghdad Burning
I remember reading her account of the day US troops moved into Baghdad, and how scared she and her family were.
I can't help you out, Riverbend. I'm as powerless as you are. But I thought you were a great person then, still do. I loved your blog. I wish you the very best.
