Over the past three weeks, I have had two job interviews. One was for a sales position, and the other was for a web administrator position. The reason I didn't get the first one was obvious: As someone on the spectrum, I don't have a personality that can sell things to people, especially crap they don't need. As for the other one, I don't expect to land that one either.
What I should also mention was that I found both of these positions on websites like indeed and career builder. I have a huge problem with sites like these, because on the surface, you may feel like you could be a perfect fit, but then you get to the interview, and they ask for a lot more than they stated in the ad. Then there are those other postings that say entry level but REQUIRE a master's degree and a few years experience. Misleading? I certainly think so.
Let me cut to the chase. I'm willing to work, as are many other skilled workers. I can learn new skills very quickly as needed, and while I might not be front man material, I'll do whatever the hell I can to make sure things run smoothly. But that's not what businesses want these days. Nope. It's all about that magic word called 'profit'...oh, and appearances of course.
In other news, I'm closer to getting my license, but given that my county's being sucked dry by idiot Florida legislators and the Ferengi we call our Governor, I suspect it's all a moot point. There's no harm in trying anyway, though.
Keep in mind, I'm not a greedy person, but it seems that asking for a chance is too much these days. Well, I guess it's back to the drawing board. Do we still have those?
See you around,
Homer
