So they had this race in my backyard at Texas Motor Speedway, and lo and behold, someone decides to shoot. No one could ever see this one coming...
Via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
A 42-year-old Saginaw man fatally shot himself late Saturday after arguing with other race fans in the infield campground at Texas Motor Speedway, according to police and the Tarrant County medical examiner.
This of course was during the aptly named NRA 500. Looking forward to seeing the gun-nuts defend this one. I can just picture it "buh buh buh...he only killed himself." That's great, except he was in a setting with 100,000+ other folks who I am sure would've loved to go down with him in his defense of the 2nd Amendment. Of course this man was a law abiding (despite the fact that he was probably breaking numerous laws), red blooded American.
The crazy thing was when the President of TMS, Eddie Gossage came on the local sports talk radio to defend the practice of the winner shooting blanks from a six-shooter (which in all honesty, would't be that big of a deal had the NRA not sponsored the race). Gossage left with the disclaimer that firearms are not allowed at TMS, much to the chagrin of Greg "the Hammer" Williams who insisted that "his people" would be at TMS with guns. Guess irony held the day yesterday. The only good thing was that the shooter only took his own life.
