CNN is reporting that the deadly poison ricin has been detected in an envelope mailed to Senator Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi).
An envelope that tested positively three times for the deadly poison ricin was intercepted Tuesday afternoon at the U.S. Capitol’s off-site mail facility in Washington, congressional and law enforcement sources have confirmed.
Senators were informed of the incident while attending an informational meeting on the ongoing investigation of yesterday's bombing in Boston.
A dose as small as a few grains of salt can kill an adult human. In 2011 the U.S. government discovered information that terrorist groups were attempting to obtain large amounts of castor beans for weaponized ricin use. Ricin is a by-product of castor oil manufacturing waste.
