A friend sent me these a while back. Clever, creative, some usable on a daily basis and some clearly meant for the seriously committed repurposers, they're amazing and interesting ways to repurpose things that would go into the landfill and become an ever increasing burden on our planet.
While most of us look for ways to "buy green" (things made from recycled materials, second hand items, or things that can be easily recycled), there's a whole lot of stuff we already have and some of it, used properly, can solve problems we have or at least remind us of the need to think about future purposes.
I'll post half of these today and if there's interest I'll post the remainder over the weekend. So, enjoy and recycle with flair.
Reuse an old ketchup bottle for pancakes, funnel cakes, filling cupcake tins or other tasks where you need a semi liquid to flow precisely.
.
Reuse old bulk CD/DVD holders to store a bagel for your breakfast or lunch at work. Bagel won't get squashed during transport.
.
A lot of work, but a whole lot of awesome comes with repurposing old barrels into a drum set (not for the faint of heart).
.
Turn old books into bookshelves (all you need are some brackets).
.
Turn an old box into a knife block by filling it with bamboo skewers. Knives of any shape will fit.
.
Turn an old door and even old bannisters into a work bench or table.
More below the cheese doodle.
Turn an old kleenex box into a place to store and reuse plastic shopping bags. It keeps them organized and handy.
.
Turn an old mini-fridge into a video game center. A clever way to organize all that stuff (and it won't collect dust either)
.
Turn old credit cards into guitar picks. There's even a tool to do it.
.
Use old bulk CD/DVD boxes into storage for cables or small items to keep them organized.
.
Use an old pipe with valves as a coat rack.
.

Reuse toilet paper rolls to store cables and cords.
Old slides? Create a stained glass effect.
.
Yes, that's an old desktop computer shell repurposed as a mailbox.
.
OK, that's all for today because more pictures would make the diary hard to load for folks using dial up or older computers. If there's interest, I'll post the last half tomorrow or Sunday.
I can already see the wheels turning in your minds as you think about other creative ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Please post your ideas in the comments.
