(Apologies for the short non-diary - and for not having realized the problem in time to do something about it other than begging for help here)
Today is primary election day in PA. I live in Philadelphia which is generally overwhelmingly Democratic which means that the primaries are the biggest opportunity to influence things. I personally, being a non-citizen, can't vote, but there are voters in my household with the same concerns I have who are stuck with no idea who to vote for to support the things we care about.
In Philadelphia right now the biggest issue affecting our family is school district funding, where the city and state are playing chicken with our kids' education, but the state is more to blame because it refuses to even allow the city to raise funding on its own. If there are candidates we can support to make a difference or send a message on that issue we want to do so. Failing that, we'd like to generally support progressive policies - LGBT equality probably being next on our list of priorities.
I found a list of endorsements from Marriage Equality for Pennsylvania, which is a helpful start on that issue, but I have had no luck so far finding any endorsements from organizations supporting school funding.
So out of sheer desperation I'm trying this sort of begging approach: the Kos community is full of smart progressive activists and I am hoping someone can help us. Having already left it too late to spend the amount of time necessary to really research who are the best candidates on our issues, does anyone here know any organizations making endorsements or know of any tools that could help us make smart decisions?
