- Today's comic by Tom Tomorrow is Return of the invisible hand:
- What you missed on Sunday Kos ...
- In case you weren't able to attend the Daily Kos Elections team's horserace Q&A panel at Netroots Nation on Saturday, you can watch a video recap here. The gang—David Jarman, Steve Singiser, Kaili Joy Gray, and Jeffmd, with David Nir as moderator—took questions about races all across the country for over an hour, from audience members and via Twitter. Lots of great stuff (and several hilarious moments) at the link.
- Hoping for a speedy recovery or an easy passing:
President Jacob Zuma said on Monday that Nelson Mandela remained in critical condition in a hospital in Pretoria after more than two weeks of treatment for a lung infection.
“Doctors are doing everything possible to ensure his well-being and comfort,” Mr. Zuma told a news conference in Johannesburg, but he gave few details about Mr. Mandela’s condition, saying he had no further information.
- Donald Trump is going to Iowa. The author of this article assures us that this will generate speculation about a presidential run. So far, the only one speculating about it seems to be said author.
- If you happened to catch any of Nik Wallenda's walk across the Grand Canyon on Sunday night, you'll appreciate this tweet:
Sorry, rest of the world, Junior and I can't help you now. We're too busy helping some loon cross a canyon on a piece of floss.

- The need for stringent border security cannot be over-emphasized:
A male red panda has turned up missing at the Smithsonian National Zoo, a spokeswoman said Monday, and zoo officials have been combing the grounds searching for him.
Rusty, who is less than a year old and is about the size of a raccoon, was not seen in his enclosure at 7:30 a.m. Monday, and the zoo sounded a “Code Green” alert for an escaped animal at 8 a.m.
The zoo gates were closed temporarily as the search began, but were reopened at 9:45 a.m., after the animal wasn’t found, said spokeswoman Pamela Baker-Masson.

On today's Kagro in the Morning show, Greg Dworkin joins in recapping the weekend on the NSA/Snowden/Greenwald/Gregory story. A roundup of the more remarkable #GunFAIL stories of recent days. Armando's SCOTUS update. Bloomberg's reporting (from February, actually) on the unnoticed and unofficial subsidy to "Too Big To Fail" banks, which just happens to be about equal in value to... their entire profit. Finally, another way the big banks are fleecing people: getting companies to pay low-wage workers with debit cards, complete with fees for withdrawals, etc. Why should workers get their pay for free, right?
12:02 PM PT:
Rusty the red panda has been recovered, crated & is headed safely back to the National Zoo!
