Good morning!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone in IAN to write a daily diary for the group! (HELP!) Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! (Help keep IAN going strong; you know you have a diary or two in you just waiting to express itself!)
Ok, we do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
So my daughter has been going to a teens and tweens group and an art class at the library every week. This week in the teens and tweens group they worked on computer art projects. One site they used she had never played with before and she wrote down the URL to bring home and share with us. This is a neat little program, kind of like a computerized Spirograph.
Remember that toy? With all the little plastic circles, and the pins and pens and you stuck the pen in the circle and made these neat patterns on the paper?
Like these:
Well the program my daughter found is called Silk . It does the same thing but without the pins and the pens and the frustration when it slides anyway or tears the paper. It also lets you mix the colors and the slides below the color spheres give you many different variations on patterns to try out.
Those are just three of the many I've made already. I don't save all of them but those I really liked. It's a nice little time waster program, with a creative twist. It also works on tablets and phones, though it's a more limited version of the program. What's you're favorite online time waster/doodle program?
