This YouTube clip from Mitch McConnell going after his new opponent Alison Lundergan Grimes might just be the strangest attack video ever:
Obviously, McConnell's campaign is trying to mock Grimes, but it's hard to see how this video accomplishes that goal. Instead, it strings together a series of one-word clips of Grimes speaking, sets them to a musical beat, and then uses autotune in an effort to turn the whole thing into a musical attack video. But instead of raising questions about Alison Lundergan Grimes, the video leaves you thinking three things: First, Mitch McConnell must be pretty damn scared of Grimes; second, Mitch McConnell doesn't have anything good to say about himself; and third, Mitch McConnell really needs to put down the crack pipe.
Adding to the amusement factor, McConnell's new video comes on the heels of him releasing this clumsy statement yesterday:
“Accepting the invitation from countless Washington liberals to become President Obama’s Kentucky candidate was a courageous decision by Alison Lundergan Grimes and I look forward to a respectful exchange of ideas,” McConnell said in a statement shortly after the announcement.
Yeah, he's looking forward to a "respectful exchange," alright. Anywhere, anytime ... as long as somebody brings the drugs, Mitch will be there.
