You should be uncomfortable...it is good for you. Being eternally vigilant is uncomfortable.
As we see from human history, ALL of human history, there is an eternal struggle between tyranny and freedom. The phrase eternal vigilance is a cliche for a reason. Without eternal vigilance those practicing tyranny will steal your freedom while you are not looking. Look it up, it happens all the fucking time. Just about every story of history is about the same thing, tyranny vs freedom.
It is certainly the story that we celebrate on the 4th of July.
Those with power try to rule and control everyone without power. To rule and control people they find ways to take away their freedom.
One of the most effective ways to take away someone's freedom is to give them the illusion of comfort in exchange for it.
When people are comfortable they are not eternally vigilant, and in addition, they eventually become dependent on those providing them with comfort...or to use another word for comfort...security.
Being a fully functioning adult citizen, in fact the price of being a fully functioning adult citizen is monitoring and correcting your government...including the politicians that work for you. You are the boss, in a representative democracy and being the boss is not comfortable.
The goal is freedom. Being free is not comfortable. In fact a good gauge of how free you are may be the amount of discomfort you are willing to put up with to earn...and keep.. that freedom.
