On August 2nd I posted a petition on line for people to volunteer to serve Bradley Manning's upcoming sentence. Amazingly more than 3800 signed up in a week. These people were sincere although they knew US law would most likely not allow them to actually serve. People from Great Britain, Canada, Brazil, Switzerland all felt Bradley Manning deserved praise rather than punishment. I will serve for Bradley Manning
Many signers spoke of what Pfc.Manning has already been through and said, "time served" should be the final decision by the court. Many spoke of his courage and bravery in stepping up to tell the American people what has been done/ what is being done in their names. The comments are from the hearts and the minds of over 3800 people.
Pfc. Manning has said he "can't believe so many people really care about him." I am pleased he is comforted by our willingness to support him. However, I am also disgusted that in a country of 300,000,000 people ONLY 3800 appreciate what this kid did.
He, in effect gave up his life for us; to tell us the truth. ONLY 3800 people find this a gesture of epic significance? How very sad.
Thousands of Americans are far more interested in the plight of A-ROD or the Kardashians. The mainstream media seems to ignore Bradley Manning except for an occasional thirty seconds here or there. Most people are unaware that there is ZERO proof Manning's disclosures hurt anyone. Our Government is obsessed with making an example out of him. It also appears fixated on "shooting" all messengers of the truth.
I am pleased 3800 people have spoken out via my petition but, realistically that number should be in the millions.
I will serve for Bradley Manning
