Well, no matter how wrong Cameron was about attacking Syria, he decided to respect the vote of the British Parliament and abandon the idea of bombing Syria.
Cameron deserves credit for respecting the vote in the parliament and the views of the British people who are against unnecessary wars.
But what is going on here? Obana is considering solo strike! Yes, isolated with no allies, with no one else willing to repeat another Bush-like attack based on "chemical weapons".
But, wait, I thought we have a congress here also. Dont we have democracy here? With only 9% of the American people supporting an attack on Syria, Obama is about to ignore the congress and start another war, possibly more dangerous than the Iraq war?
Obama was elected to a large extent because he promised to respect the US constitution and the rule of law, after the Bush disaster. He also promised to restore the image of America around the world. Is he really going to complete ignore the congress? Even Bush had authorization by the congress when he started the Iraq war. Will Obama attack Syria without any basic respect for the democratic process and completely isolated internationally? Alone?
Is that why we elected him for? Does anyone think seriously that this is a step up from Bush? Are nt we supposed to have democracy in this country?
UPDATE: Germany says no to the plans for Syria attack.
Germany will not take part in a military strike in Syria ......., the Foreign Minister has said.
So, the US administration appears increasingly isolated in the efforts to plan an attack on Syria. Will Obama go for a solo strike without congress approval and, of course without UN security council approval? Not even NATO approval.
