John Kerry should be furious at himself, after gallivanting around the world playing warmonger in chief the deal that could have been done without the noise seems to have been worked out.
The deal "would allow us to expedite the elimination of Syria's chemical weapons" which would protect the Syrian people, Syria's neighbours and the world.
Kerry said the removal of chemical weapons would be "credible and verifiable" if fully implemented. "The world will now wait for the Assad regime to honour its commitments," said Kerry. "There is no room for anything other than full compliance."
It had to go through Moscow whether if like myself you detest Putin, or not.
It was always going to have to be a diplomatic solution, now for the diplomats it is time to get down to the serious work of:
Negotiating a peace in the civil war.
Getting the millions of refugees home as soon as possible.
End the carnage in Syria.
Get rid of all chemical weapons from all the arsenals in the world and that includes our own.
Get rid of the even nastier biological weapons.
Get rid of the real elephant in the room; the massive nuclear weapon stockpiles.
Then start on reducing the total waste of resources that are the massive military machines.
Then we can talk about war criminals and crimes from a position of sincerity.
It is time that the carnage, pollution and death that surrounds the war machines is ended, humanity needs to devote these resources to survival:
Climate change and the chaos that risks on a geopolitical scale.
Food production and prices, and the sheer waste by the so called developed countries.
Can I hear her breathing?
I am trying very hard.
5:14 AM PT: Oh and as I was sure, but, but this was the plan all along.
Possibly but that was not how it was being put forward a mere few days ago.
Justice and punishment were the theme, not the diplomacy
8:43 AM PT: So what I gather from the comments megaphone diplomacy is the correct methodology.
Warmongering is fine, even though the limited strikes proposed would probably have only increased the carnage.
Or should I just praise our top diplomat and his boss for his stunning show whilst deriding Putin so as to conform with this new methodology.
11 dimensional chess = Megaphone diplomacy.
If this works out for the Syrian people well and good, personally I find this method gross especially when threatening other people's lives as a first resort.
I just love the twisting and turning after so much cheering on of the military solution on this site and now we have it was a 11-D play all along..
I'll believe it.
Jeebus.
