I posted on FB what I thought was a simple observation on my part about the Clinton all-star tour that has been ubiquitous in the media of late. I observed that the media are fawning all over Bill and Hillary, and now Chelsea, as if they were rock stars. AARP has a spread on Bill, Hillary is all over the place giving speeches, and Chelsea is being interviewed left and right. In an interview with Bill two nights ago, Piers Morgan even asked Bill about Chelsea running for President! Bill showed a bit of false humility in his reply.....but it was so evident that he thought it would be possible, after Hillary of course.
And some of my progressive FB friends jumped to the Clinton's defense, touting how they had helped people all over the world and they were beloved. How dare I criticize them.
Would I vote for Hillary in 2016 if she won the nomination? Absolutely. Would I vote for her necessarily in a primary? No. I'm hoping we have other qualified candidates because I frankly don't think I want Hillary in the White House. Is this so radical?
The problem with the Clintons at this moment in time is that they are considered rock stars. They are media manufactured darlings. Nobody is scrutinizing any of them, asking them important questions about THEM....the interviewers want Bill's opinion on all things current, on Obama's decisions, on the state of the Congress. And he usually does his famous explaining in the way only he can do. And he's usually refreshing to listen to: I agree with many of his ideas. But that is not enough for me.
This is ALL political. Media know this. I'm sure this is a Clinton generated publicity tour. Their foundation is the base of operations. But that is beginning to come under criticism for it's financial dealings and pay-to-play access. The Clintons are part of the big money politicians and they travel in that world. It corrupts people in my opinion. And the stories I link to are starting to take a look.

If Hillary runs in 2016, especially in the primary, their dealings will have to be scrutinized and it will be nasty.
The Clintons are no longer the progressive Democrats who came to D.C. from Arkansas in the "90s. They embraced the Third Way movement, a group of politicians who favor big business and sound like Republican Lite. America loved the way Bill spoke....we loved how clear he was and how easy it was for him to break things down so they made absolute sense. We still love that about him. He's even taking to explain Obama to America.
I've always been uncomfortable with what I see as his false humility, and now that he's in the spotlight again, it's more apparent to me. His Bono imitation on Piers Morgan's show last week was so off-putting and lame, yet there was Pierce and the hand-picked audience laughing it up, blowing smoke up his butt....and then there was that false humility on display again.
And now, Chelsea is being groomed to take the spotlight. Bill even bragged that she knows more than both he and Hillary! OMG give me a break.
I hate that America is so gullible. I hate that TV makes stars out of people and that star power is what counts more than anything else.
I do not look forward to the next 3+ years. Bill said on Piers Morgan's show, and in another interview that I watched the day before, that he thought it was a shame in America that people were always running for election. After one election they immediately start on the next one.....again, a bit of BS from a guy who is obviously running Hillary for 2016.
