She was interviewing Mason Tvert, an expert on the topic of marijuana (Marijuana is Safer: So Why Are We Driving People to Drink?) and director of communications for the Marijuana Policy Project, when she interrupted him
Fair use prohibits excerpting all her ravings, but here's a couple gems.
Nancy Grace: People on pot shoot each other, strangle each other, and kill whole families
“The reason I’m against legalization is that I’ve seen too many felonies — felonies — and I don’t mean pot sales or growing pot,” she continued. “I mean people on pot that shoot each other, that stab each other, that strangle each other, that kill whole families — wipe out a whole family.”
“You sound like you’re from the 1930s,” Tvert responded.
“No, no,” Grace replied. “The first time — there was this gorgeous lady standing in the middle of the courtroom crying, and I didn’t understand what was going on. They said she was a stockbroker. She had got addicted to pot, ended up losing her job, wrecked her car, couldn’t make her house payments on her house, so her husband got custody of the children, and now she has no house, no car, no family, nothing.”
She speaks for many republicans as their heads continue to explode as people smoke marijuana and don't get arrested.
Later FOX HLN TV trotted out an "expert" on 'treating marijuana addiction' to moralize at Tvert and then Nancy reported that she makes her husband drink cola out of an "opaque cup", ostensibly to not send a bad message to her children.
Is she PAID to say this crap? Was this somehow scripted so she could mouth the words of what is still official GOP policy? Because that is exactly what happened.
Since the legalization of mara-ju-wanna in Colorado republican heads have been exploding. Reefer Madness is still their official position on marijuana (despite the 1 or 2 repubs you might find down the political ladder who might be trying to do something positive) so they are, as I have long-predicted, foaming at the mouth with their reefer mad hysteria.
Since legalization and COMMON SENSE broke out in Colorado the repub/racist/conservative dimwits have been on parade, exploding heads and all.
For instance, there’s been tripe like Ruth Marcus’s Washington Post screed that at once warns of the supposed “perils of legalized pot” and absolves herself for previously using the drug. There was also the lament from the New York Times’ David Brooks, in which he first fondly reminisced about his erstwhile pot smoking and then claimed that legalizing marijuana harms America’s “moral ecology."
Ted Cruz is mad at Obama for not arresting people for mara-ju-wanna touching. However, we know Ted is a fucking idiot, too, so we don't listen to his noise.
Yet another republican genius
said that the risks of allowing medical marijuana in the state are too high. He cited Kentucky’s high rate of illegal and prescription drug abuse as reasons why the plant is too dangerous to be sold legally.
Legalization of medical marijuana will inevitably lead to the legalization of recreational marijuana use, said Benvenuti.
“I do not believe in the recreational use of marijuana,” he said, “and I could likewise fill this committee room with first responders, law enforcement officers and parents of dead children based on the effects of marijuana.”
As a protest rose from the assembled crowd that marijuana is not a lethal substance, Benvenuti continued, “In driving intoxicated, in child abuse, we’ve already heard today from folks who talk about intoxicants and its role in child fatality and child abuse.”
Yes, this man is allowed to drive a car by himself. He's also an elected official. The fucking horror.
And some ditzy new conservative bobblehead named S.E. Cupp goes full-on reefer mad about the Herb, like a good republican:
Will pot smokers become a sought-after voting demographic?
Well, dems should have been seeking them out 30 years ago, Even more so now.
Will Republicans look like school marms if they oppose legal marijuana?
They have opposed and demonized marijuana since before Nixon. Since Reagan they have been essentially the fucking Taliban. So, no, repubs opposing legal marijuana will surprise exactly nobody.
I welcome Repubs saying all this reefer mad crap: they are diligently alienating themselves from mainstream America.
Please...proceed.
