I know this practice is frowned upon at my work VERY MUCH, especially when conducting official Job-related business.
That's why they give you an official job-related email afterall -- that you're are supposed to use when you are on the clock. When you at conducting business, on behalf of your Employer, supposedly 'looking after their best interests'.
When you have to use your Personal email at work, it usually means, either:
1) You're goofing off on company time.
2) You're doing something that you hope won't become part of some sort of "official permanent record."
But don't worry if you slip up sometimes, because you are apparently among {cough} 'good company', especially when we bother to look at all the "goofing off" Chris Christie's staffers, have been up to the last 3 or 4 months ...

Here, the "in the know" circle widens a bit:

On Sept 13, 2013 the General replies to an urgent request for an IPhone call:

And last but not least, 0n Sept 19, 2013 the NJ Majority Leader sends a letter expressing her "disappointment," "loss for words," and requests for "answers" and transparency" regarding the unannounced GW Bridge Traffic changes:
From: NEW JERSEY LEGISLATURE,
MAJORITY LEADER, LORETTA WEINBERG, Senator 37th District
To: Commissioner William Pat Schuber,
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
[...]
cc. The Honorable Governor Chris Christie
The Honorable Mark Sokolich Mayor of Fort Lee
Chairman David Samson

And the really remarkable thing about that last (Official) letter, was WHO the NJ Senate Leader CC'ed, in her search for a Fort Lee Traffic Gridlock explanation.
Kind of makes you wonder IF Governor Chris Christie, even reads his mail, eh?
... especially given how "in the dark" he has been about all this bridge commotion, until supposedly about 2 weeks ago.
You TOO -- can find these Chris Christie "associates" among others, "goofing off" too on Company time: Investigation Documents.
It's fun, kind of like a shady game of "phone tag" -- but without the ironic, humorous finale -- when the "last person" finally gets the message.
