So, it turns out, the gun lobby is behind the push to overturn an open carry ban in Castle Rock, Colorado. But the mayor of the city says he's just acting on the wishes of his constituents:
Rocky Mountain Gun Owners helped fuel the repeal campaign by providing information and grassroots support. ..."I think it shows the residents of Castle Rock that their town council will stand up for their constitutional freedoms when possible," Castle Rock Mayor Paul Donahue said Wednesday.
Donahue, an investor in the Centennial Gun Club, said his vote for the repeal reflected his constituents' wishes.

Which begs the question - is this game rigged?
In other words, did the mayor get a number of calls and emails from his constituents who were prodded and supported by the gun lobby?
Were other citizens even aware the open carry ban was being debated?
Is the "will of the people" the mayor claims to be acting on a true representation of his constituents, or, is it a trumped up picture of what people in Castle Rock truly want?
At the most recent town council meeting (yesterday evening), 28 people said they wanted the open carry ban to remain in place while 25 wanted to repeal it.
Based on that, the people of Castle Rock told the mayor they want the ban kept in place.
So what people exactly is the mayor referring to? It's an important issue and if the mayor truly wants to know what his constituents want - why not postpone the final decision (a final vote is set for next Tuesday) and let more people weigh in on how they want their town to operate.
Seems the mayor - who happens to be invested in a local gun range/club - and the Colorado gun lobby might be playing footsies.
