"Actually, it says you're approved here for the Oregon Health Plan."
"I have health care?"
"Yes, you do."
"I have health care. Woo!"
That was my conversation with the reprensentative from Cover Oregon. Today, I learned I was approved for the Oregon Health Plan.
I now have health care. I can actually go the doctor. I can actually go to the doctor without going further into debt. I mean, it' s a bit late. I'm already being sued by a collections company that is bound and determined to seek a judgement against me despite my complete lack of any and all income and $10 in the bank.
I don't know a lot about how Medicaid functions or what my options will be -- I have a pcket of info coming to me within the next two weeks that should answer my questions -- but I finally have health care coming my way, and given my numerous problems, it can't get here fast enough.
Regardless of the warts that the ACA might have, the practical impact it's about to have on my life can not be underestimated.
I have health care.
