Big h/t to Rachel Maddow for reporting on this earlier tonight on her MSNBC show.
House Democrats today introduced a resolution to condemn Darrell Issa's shameful cutting of the mic while ranking committee Demcrat Elijah Cummings was still speaking during a hearing this week. Dozens of Democratic representatives stood flanking Rep. Kildee (D-MI) as he introduced the measure. The kicker is that they all held up iPads or other mobile devices showing the moment when Issa made the dickish gesture indicating his desire to cut Cummings' mic:
The vote failed along party lines (no surprise), but who cares. This was a high-grade protest statement by the Democrats in Congress. Check out Nancy Pelosi, two people left of Kildee!
Rachel played the video of this censure motion as it played live on C-Span today. Some doofus at the main podium clacked his gavel and was like, "Representatives will lower their iPads, as it is against the rules of the House!" (Wahh-wahh) One could hear shouted replies of "what rules?!"
Good on ya, House Dems.
Update 1:
