Hi again beer lovers, stop in and share a cold one here!
I saw on BeerPulse that Anheuser-Busch is bringing out a cider, confirming what I'd thought for a while now, that cider is one of the new growing trends. There are 4 or 5 other cider announcements in the last 10 days of BeerPulse also. Last fall Stella Artois "Cidre" hit the U.S., clearly the big boys see a market there for the grabbing.
There is good craft cider to be found, in most parts of the world that are traditional apple-growing regions. But there's a lot of the other kind too; I think most American cider is easy-to-drink alcopop, carbonated, sweet and without much flavor. But low flavor seems to be in these days; every time I'm in a bar I'll hear people order vodka+soda.
I know Grainpaw talked about cider here a couple weeks ago; FNBB is on top of these breaking issues!
St. Patrick's day is near, so put some Guinness or Murphy's in the shopping cart and be ready. I'll be marching in the San Francisco parade tomorrow, and hoping to meet the guys who thought the band should play for City Beer Store last year and bought a couple rounds.
When this posts I'll be on my way to SF to see Railroad Earth, so I won't be saying much. Tell us what's up in beer news where you are. What are you drinking? Who's brewing? Or pressing cider?
