Many of you know that New York State Senator Jeffrey Klein, colluding with Governor Andrew Cuomo, cut a deal with New York Republicans to deny the Democrats the majority that they won in spite of a Republican gerrymander. There is now a move to primary Klein, and a possible candidate -- long term public servant Oliver Koppell, who has served in the New York State Assembly, briefly as New York State Attorney General, and in the New York City Council.
Read below for more details, and what you can do -- now!
There is now a moveon.org petition to generate enthusiasm for a Koppell primary challenge. Koppell has expressed interest, and today even Andrew Cuomo indicated that he might just stab Klein in the back. But what we need right now is to indicate to Koppell that if he runs there will be enthusiasm for him! Klein is better known in most of the district, which stretches across the entire Bronx -- and the Republican gerrymander put almost every conservative voter in the Bronx into Klein's district so for many voters in the county that was Barack Obama's #1 county in America the collusion with Republicans will not be seen as a negative.
I urge everyone here on dailykos to click here to sign the petition to urge Oliver Koppell to run. And should he decide to run, please help out with the campaign if you live in the NY area and please contribute if you don't.
This might be the most important State Senate seat in America -- in a deep blue county in a blue state. Please help!
