CBS News confirms that Ebola hits Guinea's capital Conakry, 8 infected Health officials in the West African nation of Guinea say they're now treating eight cases of Ebola in the capital, Conakry. Dr. Sakoba Keita, annouunced that the virus had reached the capital city of Guinea which has a population of 3 million.
Already at least 70 people have died in the country's south since the Ebola outbreak began last week. The highly infectious virus causes hemorrhagic fever in its victims, with a fatality rate of up to 90 percent.
Ebola is a deadly virus that is characterized by symptoms including fever, headaches, joint and muscle aches, diarrhea, vomiting, rashes, difficulty breathing and swallowing, and bleeding inside and outside the body. ...
"We discovered the vector [infectious] agent of the Ebola virus is the bat," Remy Lamah, the country's health minister, told Bloomberg News earlier this week. "We sent messages everywhere to announce the ban... They are very dangerous animals."

But please check the warning of about a dozen known dreadful diseases that can be spread by bats. I am not sure why but they have an unusual ability to transmit viruses to different species. In Guinea and other parts of Africa the collapse of the fisheries has been leading populations to eat alternative food sources so grilled bat, and bat soup have become increasingly popular. Now both the consumption and sale of bats is banned.
Liberia has several suspected cases in people that visited funeral in Guinea. Local funeral custums involve touching the body of the dead person to show affection. Contact with an infected person is one of the transmission vectors, in addition to bodily fluids.
With 70 deaths, and more expected this is already the largest outbreak of Ebola in Africa in 7 years.
