Surprised no one's mentioned this, but there was a frightening scene yesterday in Chicago ahead of Obama's fundraiser there yesterday. Jay Levine, chief correspondent for WBBM-TV in Chicago, was standing outside the Chicago Cut steakhouse in the River North area when someone rushed in, lunged for his mic and yelled, "Obama is a war criminal!" After a few unnerving seconds, a member of Levine's crew, Dennis Williams, yanked the punk away and slammed him to the ground. WMAQ-TV's Mary Ann Ahern was also doing a standup in front of the restaurant when her crew caught the attack live as well.
Former congressman Joe Walsh, who now hosts a weeknight talk show on WIND radio, cobbled together a composite video of the incident. Watch here.
Earlier today, Levine tweeted what was going through his mind through what must have been the scare of his life.
Incredibly, as near as I've been able to determine, the guy hasn't been arrested yet. Hopefully police are searching for him. Attacking a reporter on-air is bad enough, but the fact it took place so close to where the president was due to appear makes it doubly frightening.
